Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Gary Verity said: “We have had a record number of entries and votes this year which is testament to the passion for pubs across Yorkshire.

Pubs play a vital role in people’s lives, communities and of course in tourism. They are raising the bar nationally and winning awards. More than that, they are offering quality food, drinks and a warm welcome.

“At the end of the day, every pub in the top 30 should be congratulated – and I hope that our finalists will now be out encouraging their patrons to vote again to help bring home the title.”

The top 30 will all feature in a new ‘Ale Trail’ leaflet being produced by Welcome to Yorkshire for visitors to the county.

Jo Theakston, sales and marketing director of Black Sheep Brewery which is backing the Ale Trail, said: “We truly believe that Yorkshire has some of the finest pubs in the UK which have a perfect blend of great food and drink complete with a warm and memorable welcome to visitors.

“This trail is a fantastic way of promoting pubs while inspiring visitors for places to try out and enjoy for themselves.”
