All the fun of the Country Living Christmas Fair

This weekend sees the return of the Country Living Christmas Fair at The Harrogate Convention Centre.The event, which includes local artists, makers and suppliers, is a must-visit for those looking for gift, decorations and locally-sourced food and drink. The fair, which runs until December 8, features 350 exhibitors, craft workshops, cooking demonstrations in the Country Living Kitchen and a French bistro set up in the Royal Hall.

Great British Bake Off winner David Atherton stars on Friday, December 6, at 4pm. He is treating visitors to a festive cooking demonstration while taking questions from the audience about his baking journey.

Whitby born David, 36, who works as a health adviser in London, was crowned Bake Off winner after being regularly commended for his bread making skills and robust flavours.

He says: "“Life has been so exciting since the programme ended. It’s been amazing to meet fans of the show and share my experience. "I’ve always loved the Country Living brand and it’s a real honour for me to host a demonstration at the fair and I hope my yuletide take on a festive classic will go down a treat.”

There will be many cooking demonstrations over the fair’s four days, including sessions fromAndrew Williams who was crowned Young Risotto Chef of the Year, KellyBronze Turkey, Olivier Ponsen from Chefs Academy, Stephanie Moon from Rudding Park Hotel and Country Living resident chef Joe Hurd who will cook up dishes from Country Living and Good Housekeeping Magazines.

Among the Yorkshire exhibitors are Harrogate’s Urban Outline. This Scandinavian homeware company is run by Liselotte Holleander, an interior designer who is returning to the fair for the eighth year with a variety of festive home accessories. Liselotte said: “The fair is the highlight of our Christmas calendar and is always one of our best shows of the year. It’s amazing to see repeat and newcustomers supporting local businesses as well as meeting talented exhibitors. We have recently launched a range of Swedish Santas which are adorably festive, and we can’t wait to share them. I love the show that much that I even decided to move to Harrogate fromAberdeen.”

Award-winning Whitby Distillery, founded in 2017 by couple Jess Slater and Luke Pentith, is also exhibiting at the fair with a range of locally distilled gin.With the event championing best of British small businesses, other exhibitors include Ferriby-based handmade clay jewellery brand Silver Q, which is run and made by Sue Bond and Ilkley-based Linda Mellin who specialises in Yorkshire landscape art.Guests at the Christmas spectacle can also join in the festivities at the Viking Cruises Champagne Bar or upgrading to the CountryAdvanced tickets to the fair are £19 for adults, VIP packages and all other ticket options and further information can be found at www.countrylivingfair.com
