It’s almost Good Friday, April 10, which means an excuse to be creative. Given the restrictions we face, we may have to be more imaginative than usual.

If you are able to go to supermarkets and shops, then buying Easter eggs, decorations and flowers shouldn’t be a problem. Otherwise, you could get them delivered. You can also order crafting materials online, though delivery times are longer than usual.

Natalia Willmott, who sources interesting art, crafts and antiques for clients and for her eponymous web shop, nataliawillmott.co.uk, is also a great stylist. Here are her suggestions on DIY Easter decor.

*Create an Easter tree. On your daily walk you can collect fallen branches and twigs or, if you have a garden, bring some in from there. Put a few in a tall vase and hang decorations from them. You can make decorated paper or cardboard eggs and add any Easter trinkets you may have. Why not also add some lovely pictures of your family? This will immediately add cheer to your home.

*Decorate your table with eggs and with chocolates. Set a beautiful table with bunny napkins (you can find details on how to make them on YouTube) and place names and pop chocolates in cups or egg holders. If you are on your own you can create a beautiful tray with Easter treats for yourself.

*Do you have a soft toy bunny or bear? Pop a bow around its neck and create a little Easter scene on a chair. This is a great one for the children to get involved in.

*Fill some vases with spring flowers or, if you have artificial flowers, create a new display.

*Wrap your shop-bought eggs in lovely fabrics, napkins or scarves, and tie them with ribbons and display them on a mantelpiece ready to hand out and devour.

*Create your own Easter bunting by cutting coloured card into egg shapes then thread sewing cotton through, looping each end to hang with. Trim walls, doors and windows with it.

*Create a little tableau in a bookshelf or on a mantelpiece by hand writing or printing out an Easter appropriate quote such as “There are always flowers for those who want to see them,” by Henri Matisse or this from Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Avonlea: “That is one good thing about this world...there are always sure to be more springs.” If you would prefer a Bible quote then this from Corinthians may suit: “Let everything you do be done in love”.

*Take pictures of all that you have created and send them with love to your family and friends via text and social media.

*Don’t forget to put displays in your windows, if possible, as this will cheer up neighbours and passers-by. A vase of flowers, your egg tree, bunting, children’s drawings. They will bring a smile.

**Editor’s note: first and foremost - and rarely have I written down these words with more sincerity - I hope this finds you well.
