The Yorkshire Residential Property Awards have launched and there’s a clarion call for entries.

They put property talent in the spotlight and combines positive PR and a pat on the back for the sector with vital fund-raising, networking and a great night out. The awards also offer a business boost and valuable marketing tool for award winners and runners-up.

This prestigious event is organised by Variety, the Children’s Charity, and has a twin goal of rewarding the best property professionals and projects while raising funds to help the region’s sick, disabled and disadvantaged children.

The 2019 awards dinner will be at Bowcliffe Hall in Bramham on Thursday, October 10. TV presenter Gethin Jones has once again agreed to be the celebrity host for the evening.

There is a chance for all involved in the residential property sector to enter and entering couldn’t be easier, see below for details.

Elaine Owen, Chair of the Yorkshire committee for Variety, says: “The awards really do celebrate everything that is exceptional in a sector that is so vibrant in our region. They are not only about organisations but the people who drive them forward with a vision to improve where we all work, live and play.”

She adds that all money raised at the Variety awards events is spent in Yorkshire.

“The Variety charity in Yorkshire has an absolute determination to improve the lives of children and young people who live with disability or poor health and are disadvantaged by poverty.

“Every year we are humbled and hugely grateful for the generosity of the Yorkshire property sector and the people in it.”

A great deal has been achieved in the last 12 months thanks to the funds raised via the various Variety awards events.

The money has paid for eight Sunshine coaches, which allow more children to have adventures outside of school. It has also funded 23 wheelchairs and specialist equipment that has transformed the lives of children and their families, and more than 3,000 children have benefited from the Variety Great Days Out programme.

“Last but by no means least, we have been able to realise our vision of the Variety Big Build with the Springwater School Project and the success has been phenomenal,” says Elaine Owen.

The special needs school based in Harrogate looks after children aged between the ages of two to 19 years, all of whom have a wide range of complex, life limiting and life-threatening conditions.

While the care on offer was exceptional, the facilities were woeful with limited outside space and an acute lack of resources. There was also a desperate need for a sensory room and a trampoline area for rebound therapy.

Along with generous donations at awards events, Yorkshire property firms offered extra financial and physical resources to the project and the school now has its sensory room and work is underway to create a new playground and rebound therapy facility.

Variety’s Elaine Owen says: “The generosity of local businesses and individuals who have given their time, resources and support is truly astounding and has enabled the largest county in England to come together as a community to transform the lives of not only the children already at the school but those of generations of children to come. It is a fantastic legacy and a springboard for the next Big Build.”

Law firm Womble Bond Dickinson is lead sponsor of the Yorkshire Residential Property Awards.

Julia Dacre Field of Womble Bond Dickinson says: “We are absolutely delighted to once again support the Yorkshire Residential Property Awards and to celebrate the pivotal role the housing sector pays in the Yorkshire economy. These awards have tremendous support from the industry and the popularity of the event has a direct impact on the monies raised for Variety. It has been so rewarding to see how these funds benefit young children.
