“We gutted it and gave it a new look, which is traditional with a modern twist,” says Hamlet. “The exterior of the house is white. Inside, there isn’t a predominant colour. We’ve used Farrow and Ball paints and wallpaper by Sanderson, Ralph Lauren and Nina Campbell to give personality to the bungalow. We wanted the best as we were planning to live here ourselves so the light fittings are from John Lewis, the carpets are Westex and the appliances are all Neff.”

The property, which has views over Denton moor, has a charming history. It was built in 1932 and was named after the train that used to run from the north to Torquay.

Hamlet says: “The first couple who bought the house named it Devonia because they went on honeymoon to Devon, on the Devonia. They lived happily every after in this house.”

The bungalow, which is on a quiet cul-de-sac, now has a dining kitchen, sitting room, dining room, two double bedrooms with garden views and a bathroom. Upstairs, there are French doors onto a Juliet balcony with stunning views towards the moor, plus a third double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. Outside, there are landscape gardens with patio areas and a driveway that has recently been resurfaced. The house has a CCTV and security alarm system.
