A complete renovation has turned this barn conversion into one of the finest properties in the sought-after village of Adel, near Leeds.

The work was commissioned by Alison Considine and her family who bought the property 11 years ago.“When we purchased the property, it was in a run-down state but we knew that with imagination and flair we could transform it into a stunning family home in a wonderful setting.“Right the way through the project we have sourced the very best products and craftsmanship and we’ve taken inspiration from some amazing interior design.“The bathrooms are based on those at the Corinthia Hotel in London,” says Alison, who had to have the floor reinforced to carry the weight of the hand-carved onyx sinks.

No expense spared

The aim was to create a home that suited family life and brought family members together, which is why it now has a state-of-the-art cinema room.

“We also added an office for working from home, most of the bedrooms have separate dressing areas and if you add this to the spectacular kitchen you have a wonderful home with views over the paddock and Headingley golf course.“The only thing left to do is to build a stable block, which we have planning permission for,” says Alison, who is selling to take on another project.“The property was renovated to create a beautiful family home in close proximity to some of the best schools but the children are much older now and are moving on, so we are looking to take on another project, but one that is somewhat smaller.”

Old Barn, which has grounds and a paddock extending to just over two acres has a reception hall, cloakroom, boiler room, sitting room with adjacent cinema room, a dining room, a breakfast kitchen with an electric Aga and a garden room with underfloor heating and rural views.
