“I spotted it online and just knew immediately that was where I wanted to live. I was on the train at 5am the next morning to make sure I got to the estate agent’s first thing and I put in an offer on the spot,” says Susan, who adds that the Arts and Crafts architecture was a big selling point, along with the space and the abundance of natural light.

Since buying the property, she has added an extension to create a large bedroom suite with dressing room and bathroom. She has also redecorated every room.

An artist and former floral designer, she has lived in New York, Boston, Washington and the Far East. So, the sequinned wall panel is from Bangkok, while the beaded Thai mannequin in the sitting room was bought in Washington D.C. and the life-size swan is from Maryland. Much of the furniture is international and has been teamed with contemporary new additions, such as the Philippe Starck Ghost dining chairs.
