Hide AdJohn and Brigitte Rawnsley moved there from Shipley, near Bradford, 30 years ago and were in residence when Christopher Timothy, who played James Herriot, filmed some of his final scenes.
The couple were captivated by the idyllic location and by the house, which they have sensitively updated. They are now downsizing but Mr Rawnsley says: “We will miss the peace and quiet and the view. It is an amazing place.”
The property, which comes with an attached two-storey barn, is set in a secluded valley with far-reaching views across Bishopdale. It has a kitchen with Aga, a snug/dining room, a sitting room, three bedrooms, a bathroom and a studio. The latter offers potential as a further bedroom or annexe. Outside, there is a barn with scope for conversion. The property is in commuting distance of Leyburn, Hawes and Skipton.
