Treehouse in the Wolds with its own hot tub

Those who dream of having a “posh shed” or timber lodge in the garden may be aiming higher after seeing this innovative new design.

The Tree House is the latest addition to the Wolds Edge holiday site in the village of Bishop Wilton. It is a cross between a treehouse and a timber lodge and was built with the help of funding from The European Rural Development Program.

“We have lodges and some snug huts for glamping but we really wanted something different. It has been my passion since childhood to build a treehouse and I’m so excited see it completed. It is a dream come true,” says Ruth Rowland, who helped establish the family business in 2011.

The living space with king size bed

After looking at ready-made treehouses, Ruth and her family decided to design and build their own. “It was a lot more complicated than we thought. We needed a structural engineer to help us design the legs because of the huge weight they had to carry and we also needed piling for support,” says Ruth, who adds: “We really enjoyed the process and it was worth the effort because it has only just opened and we have already got lots of bookings.”

The kitchen and dining area

The Tree House has a spiral staircase, a king size bed, shower room, kitchen and a living room. Outside on the deck is a hot tub and an etched glass balustrade with rural views .
