What could be Yorkshire’s priciest parking space is for sale in Runswick Bay

Buyers are bidding for what could soon be Yorkshire's most expensive car parking space

A small strip of land less than a minute’s walk from the beach at Runswick Bay could soon be crowned Yorkshire’s most expensive parking space.

The parking spot with room for three cars is attracting significant interest from would-be buyers. It is for sale via property agents Lister Haigh who say that there have been “significant bids” well over the £10,000 guide price and add that they have come from “those who know and love Runswick Bay”.

Parking close to the beach in the lower, most picturesque part of Runswick Bay is a major issue for residents, holiday home owners and visitors Few of the quaint cottages have parking and there are only 80 public car parking spaces, which are charged at £2.20 per hour.

“We have already seen significant interest and the likelihood is that the land will achieve a much higher price,” says John Haigh of Lister Haigh. “We anticipate a lot more interest, particularly after the forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend. We will hopefully be completing a sale in early September so interested individuals should contact us sooner rather than later.”

The 55 square metre parking bay is adjacent to the Cleveland Way and gives immediate access onto the beach.

There is a precedent for car parking spaces in desirable seaside towns fetching high prices with one in St Ives in Cornwall selling for £40,000 in 2017.
