It’s clear that Gordon Gibb is going to miss his home in Ebberston but a growing family is forcing a move.

“I love the house. It has a lot of charm and one of the best things about it is that the garden backs onto Chafer wood and the North York Moors National Park.

“It’s a beautiful place and very quiet. You can walk for miles and not see another soul. You also know that because it is National Park land it will never be built on,” says Gordon, who bought the The Lodge in 2003.

The location is within easy travelling distance of his business, Flamingo Land, near Malton, and close to Scarborough, where he plans to redevelop the site of Futurist Theatre into a £20m indoor theme park.

Over the past 15 years, he has refurbished his historic cottage and extended it to create a self-contained annexe and a leisure wing with a gym, swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna.

He says: “It’s a very relaxing place to live and I’ll be sorry to see it go but I now have more children and need somewhere bigger.”
