Buying a home can sometimes be a lottery. You never know what you might find once you get the keys to the door.
But Simon Arnold knew every nook and cranny of Smithy Greaves as he had previously rented the house.
He knew it had beautiful rural views and was in quiet, riverside spot close to the Dales Way.
“I could see its potential and I knew that it needed updating. I also knew exactly what I wanted to do to it,” says Simon, who bought the Grade II listed cottage in 2014.
The building’s character has been preserved but it has been brought up to date with new electrics, plumbing and insulation.
The comprehensive makeover also included new windows, floors, ceilings and bathrooms. What was an old lean to has been converted into a dining area and utility room.
The house, which is in the Low Mill area, has a kitchen, dining room, separate utility room with W.C. and a living room leading to the rear patio area.
Upstairs, there are three double bedrooms, one leading to an elevated patio area overlooking the river, an en-suite shower room and en suite bathroom.
The cottage has off-street parking and a single garage.
