The Yorkshire Residential Property Awards are officially open for entry. What are you waiting for? Sharon Dale reports.

The Yorkshire Residential Property Awards have launched and there’s a clarion call for entries from the north, south, east and west of the county. This prestigious event is organised by Variety, the Children’s Charity and has a twin goal of rewarding the best regional property professionals and projects.

The 2018 awards dinner will be staged at Bowcliffe Hall in Bramham on Thursday, October 11. TV presenter Gethin Jones has once again agreed to be the celebrity host for the evening after proving such a great success last year.

The Yorkshire Residential Property Awards put property talent in the spotlight and combine positive PR and a pat on the back for the sector with vital fund-raising, networking and a great night out. They also offer a business boost and valuable marketing tool for award winners and runners-up.

Variety has acknowledged that the residential property landscape has changed both regionally and nationally and it has included new award categories for 2018. There is a chance for all involved in the sector to enter. Entering couldn’t be easier and organisers are advising companies to submit early before the summer holiday period.

All money raised on the evening will be spent in Yorkshire and will help sick, disabled, disadvantaged children. Elaine Owen, Chair of the Yorkshire committee for Variety, says: “The Variety property awards are so well supported each year and really do celebrate everything that is good about the property sector in Yorkshire and the people and businesses who give so generously.

“We are truly grateful for this generosity, which has made a huge difference to so many children in our region. In the last 12 months we have been able to fund three Sunshine coaches, five wheelchairs and 25 pieces of equipment for individual children.

“We also bought a cutting edge Molli Suit, which sends electrical signals to help improve movement in those with neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy, acquired brain damage and spinal cord injury. They completely transform the way children can live day-to-day. They cost £5,000 each and are not available on the NHS.”

She adds: “The new Variety Yorkshire board brings the skillsets needed to really drive our strategy forward, whether it be the Big Build Project we are currently working on for Springwater School, reaching out to schools who are determined to extend the curriculum for their children and need a Sunshine coach to do this, or making a difference to individual children and the quality of the time they have with their families.

“The commitment and support of everyone involved in the Yorkshire Residential Property Awards enables us to harness this generosity and really transform the lives of so many children, making their lives and the lives of their families less isolated.”

Law firm Womble Bond Dickinson is lead sponsor of the event. Paula Dillon of Womble Bond Dickinson says “ We are absolutely delighted to support the Yorkshire Residential Property Awards once again and to be involved in taking it to yet another level this year. Since resurrecting the event in 2015 we have had tremendous support from the industry, which has seen the number of attendees surge to an expected 600. The popularity of the event has a direct impact on the monies raised for Variety and it has been so rewarding to see how these funds benefit young children.

“I am sure that, as always, the support and generosity of the Yorkshire Residential community can be relied upon and together we will be able to boost Variety’s funds by a record amount.”
