Longest aerial walkway opens in Yorkshire

High up in the tree tops in North Yorkshire the longest aerial net walkway in the world has opened. Catherine Scott report

Pioneered in the Lake District and awarded “Best Visitor Attraction in England” in its first year of operation, Treetop Nets’ Yorkshire site, which is located next to Lightwater Valley theme park, boasts 2000m2 of giant trampolines, walks and slides all contained within hand-made 3m high rope nets and suspended between trees up to 50ft off the ground.

The new site, suitable for everyone aged three and up, is even bigger and ventures even higher into the trees than its original Lake District attraction and uses enough rope to run the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall. It also features new additions including a gigantic aerial ball pool, a tree house and a 50-foot high crows nest.

Mike Turner, owner of Treetop Nets said: “We are incredibly proud that Treetop Nets now has a home in Yorkshire and would like to thank the local community for making us feel so very welcome.”

Treetop Nets in the Lakes has welcomed over 60,000 visitors since its launch and is the brainchild of one of the world’s best sailors and rope experts, inventor Cedric Chauvaud.

Chauvaud came up with the concept after designing a series of rope bridges and nets for researchers in the Amazon rainforest, gaining them safe access to the high canopy, without causing damage.

This early concept has now evolved into a unique Treetop Adventure for the whole family.

We took a dozen 10 and 11 year old to try out Yorkshire’s high rise attraction and it proved a huge success.

In a day and age where parents struggle to get their children away from computer screens this adrenalin filled attraction ticks a lot of boxes.

There is even a netted area forunder sevens. What really works at Treetop Nets Yorkshrie is the fact thatchildren have so much more freedom than they do at other high rise attractions where they need to wear a harness. Not at Treetop Nets. Children are free to run around the interconnecting walkways, slide down the slies, bounces on the trampolines and generall have a great time.

We were lucky enough to have the atttraction as it was raining, but that’s another plus of this attraction it isopen no matter what the matter - other than lightening.
