Ruby red lips are tint for autumn

One of the most notable trends for the upcoming autumn, in make-up terms at least, is strong ruby red lips.

The look first came into view at the shows for this spring and summer but the look will intensify for the coming season, developing into a wonderfully sophisticated and knowing pout that actually works rather well with strong eyes and brows too, despite all the make-up rules we inherit about it being either all about the lips or the eye, but never both.

Modern lipsticks have to work hard for your money these days, offering lip nutrition and protection alongside colour and depth of coverage, some including balm-like qualities in their formulations.

Tom Pecheux, creative make-up director for Estée Lauder, has come up with the new Pure Color Sensuous Rouge Lip Color collection which takes its cue from couture fashion, and the ruby red shade can be seen above, paired with strong, dark eyes and brows.

The formulation fuses a creamy shell with a liquified core for a voluptuous lipstick that drenches lips in shine and moisture, with concentrated pigments wrapped in a crystalline laminate polymer to create a semi-sheer and multi-dimensional look.

With a vanilla scent, there are 12 luscious shades, from ravishing reds and brazen berries through to natural nudes.

Plus, they come in a slim bullet applicator which makes it easy to apply precisely without going outside the lip line.

Each costs £20, on the Estée Lauder counters now.
