Vintage summer ball in aid of lymphoma

Faye Archer is looking forward to making her modelling debut next month, despite recovering from intensive chemotherapy treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Faye, 15, from Norwood, near Harrogate, will be part of a group of young models who are either still being treated for cancer, or have recently completed their treatment.

They will join a team of professional models for a catwalk show that will be the highlight of a special charity Vintage Summer Ball, taking place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Sunday, June 12.

Faye was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in December last year and has just been given the all-clear.

The event is being organised by her parents, Graham and Sue, in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and the Bone Cancer Research Trust.

“We are fortunate that Faye’s treatment has been very successful, but we are hoping to bring children’s cancers to the attention of the public,” Graham said. “Some of the children undergo years of treatment.”

There will be a dinner, plus auctions and raffles, with prizes including a meal cooked by Harewood House chefs, plus pleasure flights and haircuts by Toni & Guy, whose Harrogate stylists Sarah and Rachel will create the hair for the catwalk fashion show, which features around 40 models, styled by Sarah Hannett and wearing vintage designer clothes from Space, based in Harrogate.

“We’re doing a vintage show starting from the 1920s and moving through to the 1980s. It should be great fun,” Sarah said.

“We’re going to show people something a little bit different.”

Tickets costs £30 each, available by contacting Graham Archer on [email protected].
