Nathaniel Mendez-Laing brings Middlesbrough promotion pedigree as he rejoins Neil Warnock

Middlesbrough's scramble for a deadline-day signing has seen Neil Warnock reunited with Cardiff City's Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.

After Yannick Bolasie's signing, he is the second winger to sign up to work with Warnock for a second time.

In Mendez-Laing's case, he comes on loan until the end of the season.

The Birmingham-born 28-year-old was part of the Bluebirds side Warnock took into the Premier League in 2018.

With over 300 career appearances, he brings extra experience to a squad pushing for the play-offs.

“I know Mendez well and he’ll give us an added dimension,” said Warnock. “It’ll be couple of weeks before he’s match fit but it’ll be great to have him for this run-in now.

“We have been short of wide players and he is a player with something to prove. We’re looking forward to having him here.”
