10k runners are urged to register

AS the countdown begins to Jane Tomlinson’s Leeds 10K run people who are not registered for the event on Sunday, June 19, are being urged to do so now.

Since the inaugural event in 2007, nearly 40,000 people have taken to the streets of Leeds as part of Yorkshire’s biggest running event, supporting charities from across the region.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the event and among the runners this year will be teams from Leeds United and Leeds Rhinos who will be joined by former rugby union star Matt Dawson and long-time event supporter Leeds United legend Eddie Gray.

Jane’s widower, Mike Tomlinson, said: “It’s incredible that it’s already the fifth year of the event which promises to be bigger and better than previous years.

“We’re so proud that this is already the biggest mass participation run in Yorkshire, I’m sure as always there’ll be some amazingly inspirational stories that make putting on the event so worthwhile.”

The Yorkshire Post is media partner to the event. For further details on how to enter the 2010 Jane Tomlinson’s Leeds 10K visit www.runforall.com

There are still opportunities for volunteers to help runners before and after the run, to man water stations and help with marshalling. To find out more information email [email protected].

The event was set up by Jane Tomlinson and her family in 2007 to stand as her fundraising legacy.
