300 John Lewis jobs created in York

A BID to recruit 300 retail staff to work at a new department store in York is now underway.

John Lewis is creating the roles at a new store in the city which is due to open next year.

It is currently on the hunt for staff to fill a variety of specialist roles, including visual merchandising, business protection, administration and maintenance. The second phase of recruitment will open in November when the company will look to fill 200 sales assistant jobs.

The department store, which is set to open in spring 2014, will be on the Monks Cross 2 development. It will offer customers an edited collection of products across fashion, home and electronics. Customers will also have access to computer terminals in the store to enable them to browse and purchase products from the wide range.

Rebekah Hawley, personnel growth manager at John Lewis said: “John Lewis is renowned for excellent customer service so finding a 300-strong team who are committed to ensuring every customer through the doors enjoys their experience is a key priority for us. We are recruiting for a broad range of roles and offer both full and part-time contracts.”
