A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in relation to an incident involving a traffic officer in Bradford on Wednesday.

In the footage, filmed on a passer-by's mobile phone, the officer can be seen approaching a young man driving a red hatchback who then pushes him to the ground.

The officer draws his baton and the two men grapple on the street before the suspect manages to get inside his car and drive away, leaving his sandal lying on the road.

The incident happened on Grantham Road in Great Horton, Bradford, on Wednesday morning.

"A number of enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and anyone who saw the assault is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police on 101, referencing crime number 13180366948.

"A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in relation to an incident involving a traffic officer in #Bradford yesterday. He remains in custody while enquiries are continuing."
