The Kirkstall Road-based site has been in operation since 1999 and is home to 93 employees, with most of these roles now at risk.
A spokesman told media that: “As a result of the flooding, production has been unable to continue and therefore the company intends to start the process of closing the plant. thyssenkrupp Woodhead Ltd has a long and successful history in the area. However, detailed formal investigations reveal that if the site were to be re-instated, the risk of future flooding would leave the site permanently exposed.
“Consultations with the employees will commence with immediate effect with every effort being made to offer support and training for all those affected. A small sales and engineering office is to remain in the Leeds region to support the UK customer base.”
