The company is opening at The Broadway, Bradford, on May 11, marking its second site in the region, alongside Sheffield.

The founders behind the new cinema group, which plans to open 20 more cinemas in the next four years, set the business up to challenge the existing multiplex chains.

Chief executive Keith Pullinger said: “We are delighted to be joining The Broadway Centre and becoming part of the success of this thriving destination.

“We look to create a cinema environment that feels luxurious with plenty of atmosphere and personality, so we hope the Bradford audiences will notice a different cinema experience.

“The foyer is designed as a social space featuring a bar serving national and local beers, great wine and coffee and a varied selection of high quality food.”

Situated alongside The Broadway, The Light Bradford cinema will have six screens, all with wide reclining seats.

Ian Ward, general manager of The Broadway, added: “We’re all thrilled The Light has made The Broadway Bradford its tenth home. Not only will it provide new jobs but it serves as a further boost to Bradford’s city centre regeneration, giving people even more reasons to come and visit.”

Further openings include Wakefield, Huddersfield, and Scarborough.
