AN EXHIBITION dedicated to a member of the Royal family who helped instigate some of England’s most patriotic anthems including Rule, Britannia! opens today at a Yorkshire stately home.

Portraits on loan from the National Portrait Gallery are on show at Beningbrough Hall, near York, until the end of October, celebrating 18th century music and the influence of Frederick Prince of Wales. The eldest son of King George II was a patron of music and instigated some of the century’s most memorable operas and anthems.
