Academy welcomes VIP visitors

Baroness Campbell was invited to the school in Clifford Moor Road, Boston Spa, near Wetherby, to learn about the students' achievements as a sports college. She was also given a chance to see demonstrations of new sports including handball.

Mr Heap, who has now retired from competition, led the day's gyms lessons and gave an insight into his commitment to be one of the country's top gymnasts.

Since retiring he visits schools and uses his experience to encourage young people to achieve their full potential.

Mr Heap and Baroness Campbell also unveiled a new sculpture in the school grounds.
