Access improved to Moors scenery

VILLAGERS have joined forces to improve access to one of Yorkshire’s most picturesque landscapes.

Landowners and farmers in Rosedale have worked with the community to replaces stiles, control vegetation and improve drainage and signage along a popular right of way in the village.

The work has been carried out with help from the North York Moors National Park Authority’s staff and volunteers as part of its Community Access Project. The improvements, which were identified by the parish council, will make the route easier for people with pushchairs and limited mobility to enjoy. It will be maintained by community volunteers.

The authority’s community access project officer, Martyn Williams, said: “The project works with communities to provide the resources and expertise to improve access routes in and around villages and to give local volunteers the knowledge and skills to maintain them. My thanks go to all involved in the project in Rosedale and I hope the much improved route will be enjoyed for many years to come.”
