Accolade to trumpet as Black Dyke beat rivals

The Black Dyke Band were last night crowned Yorkshire’s best brass band, beating reigning champions Brighouse & Rastrick into second place.

The cream of the county’s brass bands had converged on St George’s Hall in Bradford over the weekend, culminating in Black Dyke pipping Brighouse & Rastrick, who are also current National Champion Brass Band, for the coveted title of Yorkshire Champion Brass Band.

Competition was extremely fierce, with six of the 13 bands competing in the elite section currently in the top 20 of the world rankings.
