Actor gives backing to Bard production

ACTOR John Simm, who recently played Hamlet at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre, has lent his support to the cast of an amateur Shakespeare production which is due to begin in the city this week.

Simm, who is also known for his portrayal of detective Sam Tyler in the hit BBC1 programme Life on Mars, has backed those involved in the Sheffield University Drama Society's production of The Winter's Tale.

After his performance in Sheffield, Simm said: "Sheffield has shown how much it appreciates Shakespeare. We've had a great run with Hamlet night after night and I've really appreciated the support of the audience.
