Actress up for Fringe prize

AN ACTRESS from West Yorkshire is in the running for a top award for her performance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Kate Daley, from Castleford, is nominated for entertainment newspaper The Stage’s best actress prize.

The Salford University masters student appears in the play Beeston Rifles, by Yorkshire-based writer Phil Stokes, with Wakefield-based Horizon Arts.

Stage critic and judge Nick Awde said: “The ever-growing range of shows at Edinburgh each year proves the fringe is an amazing place to showcase the best of our talents.”

The winners will be announced on Sunday.
