Actress 'joking' aboutisland's customs
Officials have laughed off comments made by Emma Thompson about stoning gays and shooting Scots on the Isle of Man.
The actress was appearing on a US TV chat show last month when she made the remarks, initially referring to the Isle of Wight. It provoked dismay from officials there, and the actress later admitted mixing up the Isle of Wight with the Isle of Man, which only legalised homosexuality in 1992. But officials on the Isle of Man said they were taking the comments as a joke.
