Addiction to Red Bull earns Hull woman an Asbo

Amy O'Donnell, 24, was given an anti-social behaviour order last month after abusing a number of people living on Arram Grove in the city.

But she has now put her behaviour down to being hyperactive after drinking up to 15 cans of the energy drink each day.

Unemployed O'Donnell, who said she spends up to 20 a day on the drink, said people think she is high on drugs but claimed it was just the effect of the Red Bull.

"You could say I'm addicted. It makes me hyperactive," she told the Hull Daily Mail.

"People report me for walking down the street, looking like I'm high, but I'm not high, just hyper."

A spokesman for Red Bull said the energy drink was not recommended for anyone with a sensitivity to caffeine.

He said: "A 250ml can of Red Bull energy drink contains about the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, which is 80mg.

"The consumption of Red Bull energy drink should therefore correspond to a person's regular intake of coffee.

"We do not recommend Red Bull to caffeine-sensitive individuals."

O'Donnell was handed the two-year Asbo last month after subjecting people living in the same street as her parents to a five-year campaign of abuse.

Police said the mother-of-one, who lives near the street, caused distress to a number of people in the north Hull area.

The Asbo bans O'Donnell from being in Arram Grove, except to visit her parents, and from engaging in behaviour that causes harassment, alarm or distress. She is also banned from being in a number of other streets in the city.
