Administrators called in at second company

ANOTHER company run by Yorkshire businessman James Burdall has gone into administration, resulting in the loss of 19 more jobs.

Yesterday the Yorkshire Post revealed South Yorkshire Police had been called in after the Out of Town Leisure Group went into administration, resulting in 350 job losses including around 100 at food retail outlets at the Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield.

Mr Burdall was the sole director of Sheffield-based Out of Town and his resignation last week prompted the collapse of the food retail chain.

Yesterday he called in the administrators to take over his Sheffield-based Forge Dam company which trades as both Formtech Creative Engineering and AMA Displays, with sites in Leeds and Dewsbury. The company also has a division trading as Intersign in Stockton-on-Tees involved in printing and signage.

It has now emerged that the police investigation will also include the alleged removal of hundreds of thousands of pounds from the accounts of Bradwells Ice Cream, based in the Hope Valley, in the Peak District.

Mr Burdall, from Fulwood, Sheffield, has not been available for comment. He resigned as a director of Bradwells last Friday.

The Out of Town Leisure Group and Bradwells are both owned by former Sheffield-based entrepreneur Lawrence Wosskow.

He has promised to provide funding to ensure Bradwells survives. It is understood that his role in the businesses is not under investigation.
