Admissions criteria could change at Eldwick village school

Priority areas could be completely removed for children applying to a village primary school when it is oversubscribed.

The move is one option being considered by education bosses looking at the admissions criteria for Eldwick Primary School, near Bingley.

Bradford Council is also considering merging the current priority areas into one area; creating two amended priority areas; retaining the current criteria or replacing the two priority areas with a single, smaller priority area to the north east of the current area. Those living within two defined areas are currently given priority when applications outnumber places. The priority areas were created to ensure children in Eldwick and Gilstead could get places at Eldwick Primary but this has not always been possible for children in Gilstead.
