A teenager who died after he and three others were stabbed during a mass brawl between two groups of Afghan youths was named yesterday.

Osman Shazad, 17, was knifed as a violent confrontation between two factions spilled from a house party out into the street.

Four people were stabbed, including Osman, and two others suffered superficial cuts and bruising during the incident, Kent Police said.

A total of eight people – believed to be aged 15 to 18 – have been arrested for alleged offences ranging from murder to violent disorder.

Police disclosed that at least two arrests had been made before the violence broke out because of a "minor falling-out" between groups from similar backgrounds in Folkestone recently.

Chief Superintendent Chris Hogben, from Kent Police, said knife crime in the area was rare.
