African business leaders on a mission

WEST African business leaders will be in Hull tomorrow to boost trade links between the region and one of the world’s fastest growing economies.

Hull-based Hallmark Solicitors and Kenna Consulting are hosting a delegation of buyers and distributors hoping to forge relationships with businesses in Hull and the Humber region.

Kelvin Onuoka, of Kenna Consulting, and Uche Akali, managing director and head of corporate legal services at Hallmark Solicitors, will offer expert advice on entry strategies to these markets.

The trade mission, part of Business Week, will be followed by an evening reception at the Mercure Hull Royal Hotel.

Delegates are coming from countries including Nigeria, Mauritius, Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast.

While European economies have faltered since the financial crash of 2008, statistics shows that in eight of the past 10 years Africa has grown faster than East Asia, including Japan.

The African region recorded an economic growth rate of 6.9 per cent in 2012, while the rate of foreign investment has soared around tenfold in the past decade.
