‘Aggressive’ health scientist struck off

Yogesh Bhatt worked for Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust from 2009 to 2012 after being fired from East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust at the end of his probation period.

A Health and Care Professions Council hearing was told he shouted at co-workers and female colleagues at both trusts were fearful of working with him.

In August 2010 he made a “malicious” complaint against a male colleague, whom he falsely accused of lying, threatening, bullying and racist behaviour.

Both employers also shared concerns about his competency, the hearing was told. He had difficulty with pipetting skills, did not follow instructions and managed his time poorly, the panel heard.

Ruling that his fitness to practise was impaired by misconduct and incompetence, chairman Graham Aitken said: “The registrant is either unable or unwilling to resolve his failings. He has shown total denial with a lack of insight.”

The panel struck Mr Bhatt from the register with an interim suspension order to cover the appeal period. He was not present or represented at the hearing.
