Airport noise consultation due to end

RESIDENTS who live near Leeds Bradford Airport are being urged to have their say on plans to reduce noise from the site.

Consultation about a draft noise action plan for the next five years started in December and finishes next Tuesday.

More aircraft and passengers are using the airport at Yeadon near Leeds. Managers say they are working to reduce the amount of noise from planes taking off and landing and from the site generally. They also want airlines to use quieter planes.

The airport owners are keen to hear local views and ways the plan can be improved. It is available on the www.lbia.co.uk website by putting "noise" into the search box.

Councillor Chris Townsley, chair of Leeds City Council's outer north west area committee said: "It is important that local residents have their say about the noise action plan proposed by the airport to ensure their voices are heard."
