Alert over thief targeting vulnerable

POLICE are asking residents to look out for a man who has been targeting vulnerable people in Scunthorpe.

Since Boxing Day there have been four reports of a man in his early 20s stealing money from a house on Collum Avenue, which is home to three men with learning disabilities.

The incidents began when a male resident was befriended by a man he met at a local cafe, Coffee at 43.

The man claimed to have no money when the resident took him home and he was given a small amount of cash before he left.

In the latest incident last Saturday evening, the man went into the home and took money from a bedroom before leaving.

Pc Nicholas Twinham said they believed the thief is a local man. He is white, about 5ft 4in tall, of slim build with short mousy hair.

He has been seen wearing a grey hoodie with a blue horizontal stripe, light blue jeans and dirty white trainers.
