Ambulance service for sick children
A new ambulance service has been set up in the region to transfer sick children and babies for specialist hospital care.
But, contrary to a report in yesterday’s Yorkshire Post, the Embrace retrieval service does not carry out the transfer of mothers and their unborn babies facing complications.
The service’s call centre can be used to assist doctors’ discussions about patients and to get up-to-date information on hospital beds but all transfers of women and unborn babies remain the responsibility of hospital obstetric teams.
