Amy is now up against five other regional winners in the race to be crowned the overall national champion in the Red Tractor beef and lamb challenge to cook using mince.

James Martin will now handpick the overall national winner who will enjoy a trip to London, where the winner will go behind the scenes at BBC’s Saturday Kitchen to watch an episode filmed live and visit two of the capital’s restaurants to find out what its like to be a chef.

The TV chef said: “The standard of entries this year was extremely high and Amy has done exceptionally well to be named regional winner.

“Her recipe was innovative, nutritious and well presented – but most importantly, it tasted great! It was clear that everyone worked really hard, so choosing the national champion is going to be a really tough choice,” he added.
