Anger as Bieber keeps fans up past bedtime

Pop superstar Justin Bieber has apologised for keeping fans waiting with a late-running gig which left some young devotees in tears, while many had to leave just minutes into his performance.

He said there was “no excuse” and added that he was sorry about those he had upset.

The singer had been playing the first of a run of nights at London’s O2 Arena but many school-age fans had to leave early to meet parents or catch trains home.

Some fans said he took to the stage two hours late at 10.30pm, but Bieber tweeted this had been “exaggerated”.

The 19-year-old Canadian wrote online: “Waking up to a crazy day.

“Last night I was scheduled after three opening acts to go on stage at 9.35 not 8.30, but because of some technical issues I got on at 10.10. So I was 40 minutes late to stage.” Fans were left angry and disappointed and parent Wayne Parsonage complained on Twitter: “Disgusting. Waste of time and money... never again.”
