Anger over students’ Pimps and Hoes night provokes anger

A CONTROVERSIAL Pimps and Hoes student night in Leeds this weekend has been condemned for “glamorising the sex trade”.

The fancy dress bar crawl will see students dress up in the provocative outfits on Sunday. Leeds University Students Union’s welfare officer, Katie Siddall, said: “To bring an event like this to Leeds glamourises the sex trade instead of informing students about the dangers of it.”

Varsity Leisure Group, which owns the nationwide “Carnage” events, said: “Our aim is to give students a fun night out with other students from differing ethnic and social backgrounds.

“The fancy dress themes for our events are chosen by the students and not by us.”

The Yorkshire Post revealed last week a similar event in Sheffield had been branded “completely inappropriate” by the city council.
