Animals lose magic in TV talent show

There has not been much animal magic in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent after a string of pet performers failed to live up to the success of last year’s winners – dog trick act Ashleigh and Pudsey.

Host Declan Donnelly said the animals were not a patch on Pudsey. He said: “We had a dancing raccoon that didn’t really dance. It did take a poo outside the judge’s room though. We also had a painting donkey that didn’t paint.”

The donkey failed to impress judge Alesha Dixon as well who said: “It was supposed to be an amazing painter but it just stood there and didn’t really do anything. There was also one dog act where I think I said to the owner ‘My dog can do more tricks than that dog’.”

Donnelly said he hoped it was “the turn of the humans” to win this year’s series which starts on ITV on Saturday.

His co-host Ant McPartlin said: “We’re massive fans of variety acts, so it would be nice to have a different type of act winning.

“A comedian, a magician or an old school variety act would be good.”
