Appeal after two hurt in bike crashes

POLICE are appealing for information after two serious traffic collisions in South Yorkshire.

On Sunday a 17-year-old motorcyclist suffered a broken leg after a collision on Nethershire Lane in Shiregreen, Sheffield.

At 11am that morning a silver Ford Mondeo driven by a 31-year-old man was travelling towards Bellhouse Road when the yellow Husqvarna motorcycle ran into the path of the car.

The 17-year-old motorbike rider was taken to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital. The car driver, also from Sheffield, was unhurt.

The day before, a 73-year-old woman pedestrian was seriously injured at the junction of High Street and Station Road in Wombwell, Barnsley.

Police said at 9.30am on Saturday, September 18 she was crossing Station Road on the pedestrian crossing when she was hit by a silver Ford Focus being driven by a 62-year-old woman, which had turned right from the High Street onto Station Road.

She suffered a suspected fractured wrist and a cut on her head and was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital for treatment.
