Apprentice finalists turn to drink

The two remaining contestants in this year's Apprentice are driven to drink as the pressure mounts in tomorrow's final.

Chris Bates and Stella English fight it out after surviving 12 weeks of tough tasks and straight-talking advice from Lord Sugar.

The last episode of the BBC1 show sees the pair despatched to the Langham Hotel in London where they discover their task – to create, market and sell a new alcoholic drink. There is help on hand though with some familiar faces from the series recruited to work with them and help them get the prize of a top job with Lord Sugar.

Bates enlists the help of some of the failed contestants including Liz Locke – who was kicked off the show when loudmouth Stuart Baggs survived – but soon clashes with the feisty businesswoman.

The pair fall out the colour of their pomegranate-infused spirit Prism, with Bates branding her ideas "cheap and gimmicky".

Things are more serene on Stella's team and she impresses Nick Hewer, Lord Sugar's sidekick, who said: "Stella has led her little team. There's been no fighting or showboating and that is a valuable quality to have; to be able to lead a willing team."
