Arc lights up story of architecture

ALL aboard the Arc – Hull's architecture centre is inviting families to find out what goes on there during the Clipper festivities next Saturday.

Visitors to the Arc building will be able to escape the hustle and bustle of the celebrations by relaxing outside on the beach and new decking area, with activities throughout the day for all age groups.

Arc chief executive Michael Haughton said: "The Arc building has been based in Hull's fruit market area for four years now and we are looking forward to see the area thriving once again, following last year's hugely successful Clipper events.

"We encourage visitors, both new and old, to visit the centre to take part in the many activities we have going on."

Stone carving and wood carving workshops will be provided all day by local carvers Dominic Hopkinson Saffron Waghorn, in which people can learn about traditional heritage techniques.

Artist Alice Beasley will be talking to visitors to find out what they think "Hullness" is and creating an illustrated memory map of Hull using their responses

Arc is on Blanket Row, Queen Street, Hull, HU1 1UG and will be open from 10am-4pm on Saturday. All are welcome.
