Armed hunt for knifeman
A ROBBERY suspect was arrested yesterday after police marksmen surrounded a house in Acomb, York, following a helicopter hunt for a knifeman.
Police were called to Sainsbury's in Beckfield Lane shortly after 1pm following reports a masked man armed with a kitchen knife had demanded cash from staff. No one was hurt and the robber fled empty handed towards Wetherby Road. Air support from West Yorkshire Police was called to conduct an aerial search.
A suspect was seen entering a property in Croftway, off Acomb Green. Armed response officers surrounded the house and a 27-year-old man was arrested.
