Armed police called in after city stabbing

ARMED police were drafted in after a man was stabbed in an attack in a Yorkshire city.

The victim is believed to have been attacked at a flat before stumbling into a road near the centre of York and collapsing in the doorway of a solicitors' firm.

A man aged 32 and a 37-year-old woman were arrested before being released on bail while police inquiries continue.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene in Walmgate at 2.30pm on Wednesday as people living in nearby houses rushed to help the victim.

The injured man, 29, suffered a small puncture wound to his shoulder and was taken to York Hospital for treatment. However, his injuries were not serious and he has since been released.
