Armed police swoop on Leeds home and arrest teen after shootings

ARMED POLICE have swooped on a home in Leeds and arrested a 17-year-old boy after two shootings in the city.

The boy was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences during an armed police operation at an address in the Headingley area of the city last night. He remains in custody.

A 17-year-old youth, who was shot and seriously injured in Pasture Road, Harehills, shortly before 6pm on Monday, has now been released from hospital following treatment and is also in police custody on suspicion of firearms offences.

Detectives are linking the shooting in which he was injured to an earlier incident where a shotgun was fired at a house in Devon Close, Woodhouse, causing damage at about 3.40pm on Monday and the smashing of a window at an address in Roundhay Grove at about 3.20pm that day.

A 15-year-old boy from Leeds, who cannot be named, was today due to appear at Leeds Youth Court charged with conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and criminal damage, in connection with the Devon Close shooting and the incident in Roundhay Grove.
