Armour-plated fun for holidays

Oliver Deane helped to launch the summer season at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, which is marking the return of Henry VIII's armours with a special programme of activities.

Following a year on display at the Tower of London, in the exhibition Dressed to Kill, Henry's foot combat armours and the horned helmet will be presented in the revamped Tournament Gallery of the Leeds museum at Clarence Dock. Part propaganda, part fashion, the exhibition conveys the power and majesty and wealth of the man, the icon and the

king.

Over the six-week summer holidays there will be a number of events at the museum, between Saturday and the end of August.

Also to mark the return of Henry's armour there will be lectures, talks and art workshops which are suitable for adults.

New information relating to the horned helmet will be revealed on Friday by author and historian Graeme Rimer as part of a lunchtime lecture programme. He will repeat the lecture on Friday, August 13.
