Arrested man being treated at West Yorkshire hospital escaped from police

Aaron Fleming, 34, absconded from officers at Bradford Royal Infirmary just after 12.30pm.

Police said Mr Fleming, who was under arrest and had been charged with an alleged assault, was receiving medical treatment when he escaped.

He was seen by a member of the public shortly before 1pm in Spring Royd Terrace, Girlington, when he was still wearing handcuffs.

A further potential sighting has been reported when he was described as having pulled his hoody off to cover the handcuffs.

Chf Insp Melanie Jones, of Bradford District Police, said: “Mr Fleming has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault and while there is nothing to suggest he poses any wider risk to other members of the public, we would advise people not to approach him but instead to report any sightings immediately to the police.

“He was receiving medical treatment when he absconded from custody and he may be unwell and in need of further medical care.”

Mer Fleming is described as a 5ft 9in tall slightly built white man who has with short, dark hair and green eyes.

He is described as ‘unkempt’ looking and has a number of distinctive tattoos including a grim reaper on his chest, ab hornet on his back and an ace of spades on his wrist.

He was last seen wearing a light grey tracksuit top and bottoms and a light-coloured t-shirt.

Mr Fleming is from Sowerby Bridge but has connections to the Shipley area.
